Who We are and What We Do

Flare was founded in 2008 by 3rd Generation women in aviation. We felt there was a need for professional clothing for women in aviation that weren't adapted from mens clothing, but were designed specifically for women.
With that thought in hand, we tested new products locally and finally at Airventure 2010 and 2011. We received overwhelming success and recommendations from professionals suggesting new designs, cuts, brands and fits. We continually strive to develop, and distribute new clothing and ideas. This year in 2012 we will be introducing a professional line of clothing this summer. The Mundschau women began flying in World War II from Crites Field in Waukesha Wisconsin.
From our small building along the Erie Canal in upstate New York, we are a family business and we focus on quality products for women. We don't buy cheap stuff from china, stick a label on it and sell it online. There are plenty of people for that and if that's the kind of product your looking for, just ask we can recommend about 250 of them. No, we are a small shop. We design our own graphics the old fashioned way, pencil paper and a warm cup of coffee. Then we run the image by women in aviation and see what they think. We get different responses from aerobatic pilots, airline pilots, dispatchers and flight instructors. Then we go back to the drawing board with our chocolate lab and put the image into a digital file here in our shop.
The next part is what separates us from others. We finish our coffee and roll up our sleeves. We get our hands dirty and screen print or embroider our own products. We do this because we can try many things before committing to a line we love. So now you're getting a picture. A chocolate lab, hundreds of designs, one offs, ink on the shelves, along the canal. It's a great place to work. We work with the best fabrics and inks. the result are products professionals can call on.
Thank you for your business and we look forward to meeting and exceeding your expectations.
